2023 Democratic Primary: In-Person Voting Starts Friday In Fairfax

From May 5 through June 17, Fairfax County residents can cast ballots in-person for the 2023 Democratic Party Primary at 16 locations.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — In-person voting for the June 20 Democratic Party Primary in Fairfax County begins on Friday.

Voters have a number of local and statewide races in which to cast a ballot. The primary will decide the Democratic candidates who will represent their party in the General Election on Nov. 7.

The November election will be the first one in which the redrawn districts in the Virginia General Assembly will be in effect and some voters will be casting ballots in different Virginia Senate and House of Delegates districts than they previously had. Voting Requirements And Registration

The deadline is May 30 for voters to register to vote in the primary on June 20. Voters must register online by 11:59 p.m., on May 30. In order for mailed-in applications to be official, they must be postmarked on or before May 30. Download a voter registration application.

Voters can check their registration status, find their polling place or apply to vote absentee by mail via the Fairfax County Board of Elections' Citizen Portal. Absentee ballots can also be dropped off at the permanent Ballot Drop Box outside the Fairfax County Government Center at 12000 Government Center Parkway.

Through May 30, voters can register in-person at the Fairfax County Office of Elections, which is located at 12000 Government Center Parkway, Suite 323, in Fairfax.

From May 31-June 17, voters may register and cast a provisional ballot in-person weekdays, from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., and Saturdays, June 10 and June 17, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., at the Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway, Conference Rooms 2/3, Fairfax, VA 22035

From May 31-June 17, voters may register and cast a provisional ballot in-person weekdays, from 1-7 p.m., and Saturdays, June 10 and June 17, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., at the following locations:

2023 Democratic Endorsement Caucus

The Fairfax County Democratic Committee is also conducting a caucus on May 20 to choose which candidates it will endorse running for the three at-large seats on the Fairfax County School Board and the three Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District Directors it will endorse.

Since the school board races in the Hunter Mill and Mount Vernon districts are contested, those races are also included in the caucus.

Any Democratic voters who are not already an FCDC member, must register online by May 5, if they wish to vote in the caucus.

Online voting for the 2023 Democratic Endorsement Caucus will be open May 13-20, with in-person voting taking place May 20, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., at four locations around the county.
